7-Percent Chair
Woodworker: Garrett Hack
In his quest to develop a lighter, stronger chair, Hack came up with his “7-percent chair.” Hack uses white ash, rosewood, and Danish cord to reach his goal. To maximize the strength of the seat Hack used longer than normal tenons to connect the legs to the rails. The woven cord draws the joints together making a light, comfortable, and ventilated seat. The chair is finished with varnish, oil, and beeswax.
