Arts and Crafts-style Lamp

While toying with the idea of multi-functional furniture, Der happliy stumbled upon the design for this floor lamp with cabinet. The piece is made of cherry, walnut, and curly maple. Its proportions and shape are based loosely on an Arts and Crafts grandfather clock. “The reverse bookmatch was an afterthought,” says Der, “but the result is an interesting juxtaposition of a dark void and illumination.” The lamp has a hand-rubbed oil and wax finish.
