Asian-Inspired Hall Table
Woodworker: Marc Spagnuolo
This table was originally designed for a class Spagnuolo taught at a woodworking school. He designed into it advanced techniques to challenge the students including veneering, bandsawing, hand-sculpting compound curved legs, and cutting a drawer front from a table apron for grain continuity. It was constructed with Japanese architecture in mind. The figured maple top is adorned with a floral inlay and sits proud of its frame. The drawer front also sits proud of the surface and features a hand-carved pull. Compound-curved legs gracefully slope away from the table. Spagnuolo used wiping varnish over a shellac sealer coat to finish the piece.
