Fine Woodworking editor Asa Christiana saw this bed in Douglas Green’s catalog (www.greendesigns.com) and took a stab at building one like it. He had to guess at the hidden construction details but after about 50 hours in the shop, he had a new piece of furniture for his home. As he hoped, the bed has been great to live with. “The platform is great for putting on socks and resting a book, and it makes a nice runway for kids,” he said. Christiana finished the solid-walnut piece with Buttonlac shellac and wax.
