Bamboo Bench

Woodworker: Phillip Sell
Sell drew on his interest in Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s gridwork and the illusions of M. C. Escher’s drawings for the design of this bamboo bench, 18-3/4 in. deep by 60-3/4 in. wide by 17 in. tall. The legs are tenoned through the gridwork in the top of the bench, and the finish is clear conversion varnish. This bench was awarded First Place, Best of Show at the Texas Furniture Makers Show.
