Woodworker: Michael Cullen
The elegant loops of his mother’s cursive handwriting were the point of departure for the carving pattern on Michael Cullen’s Black Table. By reducing the furniture form to its most basic and painting the piece black, he gives the carving center stage. The character of the carving changes as you walk around the piece and see light reflected by different surfaces.
