Changing Tides Tables
Woodworker: Tony Kenway
Although Kenway’s pieces remain firmly functional, the trend in his designs is toward more and more sculptural shapes. These tables, made for a room with a view of a riverbank, recall the driftwood, sand and pools of water outside the window. Kenway stack-laminated the pieces and made them hollow so they would dry and move from the inside as well as the outside. The wood is from the Huon pine tree, which can live for 3,000 years and is illegal to cut while it’s living.
