Cherry Dictionary Stand
Woodworker: James A. Harper, Jr.
James A. Harper Jr. was inspired to build this stand as a very late wedding gift, after a friend received a two-volume dictionary as a first anniversary gift from her husband. The cherry stand features a hand-dovetailed drawer for pencils and paper, a pull-out, leather-faced shelf for taking notes, and shelves for storing two books. As a final touch, Harper created two hidden compartments for hiding documents. The finish is gel varnish and paste wax.
