China Hutch
Woodworker: Monroe Robinson
Carl Malmsten’s furniture inspired Robinson to design and make this china hutch. The grain of the wood itself led Robinson to create the asymmetric curve at the top of the door frame. The bulging, curved plinth and cabriole legs give the cabinet a grounded look. The piece is made from Honduras rosewood veneer, rosewood, maple, pecan, doussie, plywood, glass, and brass. It is finished with shellac and wax.
