Curved Chests of Drawers
Woodworker: John Byers
These two curvy chests (see all images, below) are entitled “Thelma and Louise.” They get their shape from Byers’ method for building carcases with curved sides. He applies layers of bending plywood over an inner plywood structure, then he covers the curved sides with decorative slats. The drawers are made using standard construction and solid wood. Byers finishes his furniture with milk paint, clear lacquer, or pickling, depending on the piece.
