Decorative Pedestal Table
Woodworker: Anthony Hayzen
Hayzen’s pedestal table serves as a canvas for his decorative veneer work. The six-sided pedestal is made of poplar, while the tabletop and base are made of medium-density fiberboard with solid mahogany edge-bandings. The base veneer is maple, and the colored veneers were dyed before they were cut to shape and inlaid. Overall, it took Hayzen about 300 hours to make the table. He chose lacquer as the topcoat because it provides a long-lasting, wear-resistant finish.
