Gresham created this veneered cabinet from narra, a Southeast Asian wood. The veneered basketweave pattern in the drawer bottoms was inspired by the hand-woven baskets of the area. For a three-dimensional effect, he used hot sand to brown the ends of tiny pieces of cypress, and the black gaps are slivers of ebony. The pulls are patinated brass and tiger’s eye stone. The finish is shellac and polyurethane.
