Emperor’s Bed
Woodworker: Unknown
This mammoth emperor’s bed, made of mahogany, was a gift from the Chinese government to a Connecticut man in appreciation of his assistance in rebuilding the Chinese economy. To craft the bed, a team of six Chinese woodworkers rented shop time at The Woodworkers Club in Norwalk, Connecticut. The bed features intricate carvings, from dragons to landscapes. The bed took three months to complete.
