Entertainment Cabinet
Woodworker: Richard Judd
Staying true to the phrase “less is more,” Judd scaled down the heavy look of most entertainment centers to craft his lighter version. In lieu of pocket doors with their heavy hardware, Judd used hinges with a 270° swing so they would fold flat against the sides of the unit. Legs that taper from thick at the top to thinner at the bottom make the cabinet seem lighter as well. The unit is made from birch plywood, African wenge, and bird’s-eye maple veneer, with malachite inlay and brass hinges.
