Esherick-Inspired Floating Cabinet
Woodworker: James McNabbAs a graduate student in the wood program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, McNabb has been avidly exploring the possibilities of laser-cutting. He used the technique, which leaves a singed surface where it removes wood, to decorate the drawers of his wall-hung piece (12-in. deep by 43-in. wide by 10-in. tall). The pattern of radiating lines was inspired by a Victrola cabinet designed by Esherick. Photos: James McNabb
