Fan Coffee Table
Woodworker: Michael C. Fortune
Fortune originally designed this table to occupy the inside corner of a right-angled sectional sofa. He now makes it in different woods and dimensions. This piece features bee’s-wing mahogany, Macassar ebony, and sapele. The taper-laminated legs pierce through the table top. They were inserted and joined with a spline during assembly. The individual fan shapes are pattern-routed; each one is a different thickness. The curves are vacuum-laminated and the finish is catalyzed lacquer.
