Federal-style Chest of Drawers

Smelser’s chest of drawers is made of maple and poplar. The piece is a reproduction commissioned by a client. The main challenge was duplicating the gold stencil pattern on the black lacquer finish. In order to reproduce it successfully, the pattern was printed onto an adhesive-backed vinyl stencil, which was used to spray on the gold details.
