Federal-style Settee
Woodworker: Dorothy Roof
To build this piece, Roof worked from a photo of the 1805 John and Thomas Seymour original at the Winterthur Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. She used mahogany, flame birch, and maple in its construction. Roof chose this project for the challenging joinery, interesting birch inlay, and the variety of turned and carved details. The finish is linseed oil and shellac.
