Glass Top Table
Woodworker: Mike Fucile
This glass-top table won Best in Show honors in the Fine Handcrafted Furniture Competition at the Florida State Fair. Fucile, who has been woodworking for 30 years, says the design was his first attempt at “thinking outside the rectilinear box.” All the joints are floating tenons. Fucile ebonized the maple legs using black dye and ebony stain. The stretcher is quilted makore veneer over ash bent-laminations. Fucile says contributing editor Michael Fortune, with whom he has taken several classes, gave him advice on the final design details. The table is 21-in. wide by 52-in. long by 29-in. tall. Mike:
Excellent design & execution. My wife saw me surfing FW Table designs, and asked me to take a closer look at this.
Would you mind if I inquire about specific dimensions you may have? Also, are the center 'stretchers' bandsaw'd from larger pieces, or did you use an alternative method (steam bending, for example)?. By Floating Tenons, I assume you used the Domino. If you want to contact me, [email protected].
Thanks - great work.
Mike
