Greene and Greene Fireplace Mantel
Woodworker: Mario Rodriguez
Though inspired by a mantel in the Blacker House in Pasadena, California, this mantel is based on elements in the entire body of Greene and Greene interior work, such as the use of exotic wood, quarter-rounded corners, rosewood pegs, and the signature cloud-lift motif. The mantel is finished with three coats of water-based polyurethane, followed by a glaze coat.
For a project plan and step-by-step construction information, see Mario Rodriguez’s book, Building Fireplace Mantels .
