Chests and boxes are good candidates for the type of allover carving Cullen favors. He likes the broad, uninterrupted surfaces they offer and the ability to make a continuous pattern wrap right around the piece. Cullen adds color to many of his pieces with milk paint. The pattern on this chest was inspired by looking down on the farms of Saskatchewan through the window of an airplane.
