Hepplewhite Chest of Drawers
Woodworker: Nathan SchoeningInspired by Carlyle Lynch’s article in FWW #48, Schoening built this Hepplewhite chest of drawers (22 in. deep by 33-1/4 in. wide by 36 in. tall), taking a few liberties with the design. His drawers are built with sliding dovetails and Tandem Blumotion slides. He also left off the escutcheons and locks because, he said, the piece “was meant to store clothing, and who would want to steal my clothes?” The African mahogany and maple chest is finished with liquid dye concentrates, linseed oil, and shellac.
