Holmes-Edwards Library Bookcase
Woodworker: Jeff Williams
Jeff Williams spent almost spent a year and a quarter building this Holmes-Edwards library bookcase, logging 2,400 hours. The massive piece is based on a bookcase built around 1770 in Charleston, S.C. Williams crafted it as part of a massive commission awarded to Irion Company Furniture Makers, a shop that specializes American period furniture. Williams built every part of this reproduction except the carved flowers at the top. Over the last eight years, Irion has completed some 90 pieces as part of the commission, including two other library bookcases.
