Kwila and Afzella Correspondence Box

Woodworker: Clark KelloggUnusual inspiration prompted this kwila and afzelia correspondence box (8-1/4 in. deep by 11 in. wide by 4 in. tall). In the offbeat comedy film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, the main character talks about writing a thank-you letter on “our good correspondence stock.” And that got Kellogg thinking about the romance of writing a proper letter on fine paper with a good pen. This dovetailed box with a frame-and-panel lid (finished with Liberon oil on the outside and shellac and wax on the inside) is the end result.
