“Lit Carriole”

Quebec resident Christopher Michaud always wanted a sleigh bed, or “lit-carriole,” so he crafted this one in maple. The lit-carriole style was popular in 19th century Montreal, according to Michaud. The design was a mix between by the Canadian sledge and the French lit-bateau, or boat bed. This queen-sized version features hand-carved flowers and bracket feet. The finish is oil and varnish.
