Low-Profile Bed
Woodworker: Bill Palmer
Palmer’s low-profile bed frame, made of cypress, is a pleasing collection of curves. Since cypress is a softwood, Palmer decided to avoid hard edges that can be easily marred and instead focus on curving the headboard and edges. The bed frame has hidden bolts that make it easily collapsible. Palmer also used cypress veneer, Jamaican dogwood, plywood, brass, and steel to construct the bed. It is finished with varnish and a satin polyurethane gel.
