Mahogany-and-Oak Portable Writing Desk
Woodworker: Ric Washburn
Washburn, a student from The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, reproduced this mahogany-and-oak portable writing desk from a photograph in Lon Schleining’s book, Treasure Chests: The Legacy of Extraordinary Boxes (The Taunton Press, 2001). The tambour lid is attached to the drawer, so the lid retracts as the drawer is pulled out. The finish is Waterlox Original.

Now that's a gorgeous handmade stationery storage piece. I know a friend who loves calligraphy and penmanship who would be ecstatic to own one of these!
