Mahogany Tilt-Top Tea Table
Woodworker: David S. BeachBeach decided to reproduce this mahogany tilt-top tea table after a field trip to the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts in Winston-Salem, N.C., with the Society of American Period Furniture Makers. He made the top with a single wide mahogany board from Irion Lumber. Like the ca. 1755 original, the table is finished with boiled linseed oil and seedlac shellac. It is 31 in. dia. and stands 28-ΒΌ in. tall in its open position. From Fine Woodworking #204
