Woodworker: Jack Alberti
To make this commissioned piece work, Alberti knew he couldn’t rely on standard woods, so he decided to use mesquite and English plane. The mesquite, which is hard and dense, had the reddish look Alberti and his client wanted. The English plane veneer gives the piece striking visual interest. The sideboard is finished with lacquer.
