Peruvian Walnut and Maple Segmented Vessel
Woodworker: Peter Schultheiss
Schultheiss, a retired math teacher and a member of the Long Island Wood Turners Association, learned about segmented turning by studying a Dale Nish book while recovering from hip-replacement surgery. This open-segmented piece is made of exactly 100 pieces of Peruvian walnut and maple. It won Best in Show at the 2006 Long Island Woodworking Show. The piece is finished with tung oil.
