Philadelphia Queen Anne Arm Chair
Woodworker: Gerald Curry
This arm chair is from a set of 10 chairs Curry built in 1980. Curry developed his skills as a carver simply by copying carvings he considered beautiful. “Copying carving is difficult,” he says. “It’s like trying to forge someone’s signature. You have to work meticulously at it, and it can easily look stilted. But what you are after is a certain flow and spontaneity.”
