Race Car Handplane
Woodworker: Perry Craber
One of Craber’s passions is making and using wooden handplanes. For this plane, he used highly figured bubinga left over from another piece he had made, combining it with ebony in what he hoped would be a functional yet beautiful tool. Craber’s exotic plane has a shape and stripes reminiscent of an old race car. The finish is polyurethane and it uses 1-1/2-in.-wide Hock plane iron.
