Shaker-style Chest
Woodworker: Robert G. Twomey
Asked to make this walnut chest for a client, Twomey found in this project the perfect opportunity to expand his woodworking talents. He decided to cut the dovetails with a bowsaw, the same way he had seen Mack Headley do it at the 2001 Willamsburg conference on 18th-century chairs. To make the bowsaw, he relied on photos taken at the conference and cut all 52 dovetails by hand. The chest has an oil and lacquer finish.
