Shaker-style Oval Boxes
Woodworker: John Wilson
These Shaker-style boxes can be easily crafted by the novice and experienced woodworker in no more than a couple of days. Quartersawn maple veneer strips are used for the bottoms, while pine is used for the tops. Hot water is used to bend the strips into their oval shape. The boxes can be finished with paint, varnish, or oil. The boxes shown here are finished with clear lacquer.
