Woodworker: Russ Filbeck
The cocobolo spokeshave on the left is a traditional design, while the curly maple one in the middle has the handles positioned lower, in line with the blade — an idea Filbeck got after seeing a spokeshave made by Brian Boggs. Filbeck modified that design with the boxwood spokeshave on the right by placing the handles in front. All three spokeshaves have an oil finish.
