Temple Doors
Woodworker: Carl Swensson
Carl Swensson got a unique honor when he was commissioned to craft these Alaskan Yellow Cedar doors for a Buddhist temple in Kofu, Japan. Non-native craftsmen rarely get the opportunity to work on these types of projects, but he showed off his talent when he helped to build the temple itself. Swensson then spent 12 weeks constructing the eight-doors set; only two of which are featured in the gallery.
