Textured End Table
Woodworker: Kiki Warnock
Furniture maker Kiki Warnock says smooth straight surfaces are important for furniture to function properly, but that “it removes us from some of the natural qualities of trees, namely the textures which can be so enticing to reach out and touch.” To this end, she recalls the organic bumps and irregularities of wood in this end table made of cherry and maple. She carved a bark-like texture into the center of the table and painted it the color of lichen.
