Townsend-style Kneehole Desk
Woodworker: William Locke
This desk is a reproduction of a kneehole desk built by Edmund Townsend in Newport, Rhode Island, between 1765 and 1775. The original is located in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The desk was originally intended to be used as a bureau. Locke made the piece from mahogany and maple, and he finished it with shellac.
