Woodworker: Gene Blickenstaff
The sunburst quality of this bowl is a feature of the Norfolk island pine or star pine that was used to turn it. Blickenstaff turned the wood wet, soaked the bowl in Danish oil for a month, then dried it for three weeks before wet-sanding it. The result is a piece with a luminous glow.
