Walnut Chest on Stand
Woodworker: Michael CullenMichael Cullen’s chest on stand, made with walnut from two trees at Mount Vernon, is carved with stylized stripes—reminiscent of a flag flapping in the wind—and circles to represent the circle of stars on the nation’s first flag. The lid is embellished with 13 stars and the bottom of the chest is composed of 13 planks. The chest is 11 in. deep by 27 in. wide by 30 in. tall.
