Wenge and Papyrus Screen
Woodworker: Joe Tracy
Joe Tracy designed this mini-screen for a counter pass-through between a kitchen and a dining room. He picked papyrus panels for their color and texture. Because the hand-pounded plant fibers are difficult to work with he backed the papyrus with self-adhesive styrene. Styrene is translucent, washable, and flexible, so it molded well to the screen’s curves. The bent-laminated frame is made with wenge veneer over a core of korina veneers.
