Writing Desk

Woodworker: Spero Kripotos

Inspired by Fine Woodworking articles and Readers Gallery submissions, Kripotos took a break from building for clients and family to make this writing desk. The desk is made of African rosewood with cocobolo pulls. The finish is a clear shellac sealer under an oil-based varnish topcoat.

This is a beautifully striking little desk-- well proportioned and very nice to the eye. I'm amazed there are not more compliments. It is amazing how much this looks like cherry in the photo. I've got some Bolivian Rosewood, but I'm a little gun shy about working with it, because of bad rumors I've heard of the dust.
