Lamp Table, Greene and Greene Style
Lamp Table, Greene & Greene Style
The cherry lamp table is 22 inch L by 20 W by 22 H and has a 16 inch square frame base. It sits nicely between two arm chairs in a music listening and reading area. I decided to see how many Greene and Greene features I could incorporate and yet maintain a harmonious overall look.
Starting with the cloud lift profile on aprons and stretcher seen in many table designs of this style, I added flush thickness breadboard ends with proud splines and plugged mortises on the 7/8 inch thick top. More leg plugs cover apron retention dowel pins and the stretcher is fully pinned rather than glued in the through mortise. Finally I added the Blacker House style leg bottoms to enhance the square leg profile. This indent and knuckle profile really improves the lines of an otherwise bulky looking leg.
All of the plugs and splines were made with Wenge. The finish is 1 application of Watco Natural, 3-6 coats of General Gel Topcoat, and a final coat of Antiquax.

Very nice. The details make the simple table elegant. Really nice work.
Really like how you attached the bottom shelf. That should take care of wood movement. Well executed project.
