Wavy Back Chair The chair is constructed of laminated Oak and Maple. The back, including the top and bottom rail, was machined from a 3″ thick piece of laminated Maple. The front surface of the back has concave grooves, and the back has the same shape grooves but are convex. The finish is a black stain and then sprayed with a black then brown dye. Some of the stain/dyes were rubbed off from the high spots of the back, then I sprayed a very light coat of mahogany dye to add a little color. Clear lacquer completed the finish.
