Shelving for those of us with bad backs!
I needed some additional storage for my basement shop. Note in picture that planer, mortiser, mini-bandsaw, air compressor, and other tools are stored on the shelves. Also note roll around cart in front of shelf. My planer is very heavy, and since I have had some minor back issues, I’m always concerned when lifting the planer that I will cause a major back issue. Now I roll the cart upto the shelf, slide planer or mortiser off shelf and onto cart, do the job required, and slide them back onto storage shelf… easy peasy! Cart is not only same height as shelf, it’s also same height as table saw and various work tables in my shop. I can transport any heavy item around the shop while keeping it at the same height, just sliding it around. This has been a real back saver.

Excellent idea Dave!
Great idea, looks like it can all so serve as a parts cart.
Looks great! This is exactly what I need and I had some questions.
1) Are those 2x4s on their sides for the cross members?
2) Did you use half laps joints for the vertical sections?
3) how did you join the cross members?
Thanks for the inspiration!
