Traditional trestle table construction with breadboard top. The endcaps have 5 tenons inside – the center tenon is pinned/glued/fixed; the other 4 are pinned thru slotted holes and not glued to allow for movement across the grain.
The thru tenons on the lower stretchers are locked in place with wedges that pin the structure together and are “self tightening” with seasonal movement.
The finish is Minwax Jocobean stain with Watco Danish Oil and paste wax

the table base is "knock down" construction.....................
two bookmatched, red oak slabs (8/4" thick) are selected for the top..................some knots, minor cracks and worm holes are filled with epoxy for stability.
The center tenon gets pinned and glued, the other 4 are pinned thru slotted holes, which allows for considerable wood movement across the tabletop
The finished table, waiting to host the first of many, many meals!
