Stickley Sideboard – 12th Anniversary Gift
I designed this Stickley style sideboard for my wife, as a 12th Anniversary gift. The sideboard dimensions are 60″ long by 18″ deep, and the top is 38 1/2″ tall. The carcass is 3/4 white oak ply (solid oak face frame), and the exterior is solid white oak. I used Nancy Hiller’s finishing schedule, though I used alkyd varnish as the top coat, and dewaxed shellac. All joints are drawbored mortise and tenon joints, fitted via shoulder plane. The drawers are aromatic cedar (shellac finish) joined to white oak via 1/2 blind dovetails. The hammered hardware pulls are from Horton Brasses. The brass shelf inserts are from Lee Valley. The sideboard will store my wife’s fine China in our dining room.

Beautiful sideboard. The style and finish are very true to Stickley form.
Well done!
Thanks pintodeluxe asks for the interest. I try hard to research period pieces before I draft a design. I admire the Stickley qualities, simple clean lines, and strength are apparent in the furniture style. I also love working with oak, it is strong, domestic, and reasonably priced. Thanks again, and take care.
