Shaker Inspired Huntboard
History informs us the Shakers loved the pageantry of the hunt. Dressed in the height of sporting fashion complete with brightly colored jackets and polished boots they would race over the rough country side in chase of the fox and hounds. After which they would turn over the horses to their grooms and exhausted, hungry and thirsty they would often gather round the Huntboard to enjoy food and drink, while exchanging anecdotes and ribald tales- some of which would instantly send the ladies scurrying away with the vapors-OK, I made that up, but perhaps if they did their serving piece might look like this.
This was inspired by examples of the tailors counters made by the Shakers. This one is Cherry with figured drawer faces and door panels. Poplar secondary wood with white pine drawer bodies. Pulls were turned from Ambrosia Maple.
