Curly Maple and Mahogany Coffee Table

This coffee table (22 in. wide by 42 in. long by 18 in. tall) has a curly maple top and laminated mahogany legs and rails. Kearney didn’t want the top to have plain square edges, so he beveled them, making the top look thinner than its actual 13⁄16 in. He originally used a tree branch as the long stretcher but didn’t like the look so he changed the design of the base, replacing the branch with the elegantly curved stretcher shown here. He finished the table with catalyzed varnish.
