Marble-Topped Coffee Table
Woodworker: James Breaux
Best Contemporary
For 13 years, the Texas Furniture Makers Show has been promoting the talents of the state’s woodworkers with an annual exhibit in Kerrville. The show last November featured the work of 42 furniture makers. Here is one of the award winners.
When creating this mahogany coffee table (32 in. dia. by 18 in. tall), Breaux started with a round marble top he had bought several years ago and used SketchUp drawings to design the base. He used bent laminations to form the counter-curving stretchers and finished the table with wipe-on polyurethane.
